Morningstar performs!...

BIO: MorningStar is an Austin Texas based, female fronted Southern Rock band. Timothy McCoy-songwriting, guitar, back up vocals; Reed Hoffman-percussion, backing vocals; Tasmin Morningstar -lead vocals; Bassists on rotation. MorningStar formed in 2015 and has performed at hundreds of venues in the Austin and outlying areas. Some venues we currently play include Saxon Pub, Dozen Street, Maggie Mae's, Walburg German Restaurant. We are versatile and this has kept us busy, which is fantastic. We do full band original showcases, full band 70's Classic Rock Tribute shows and an acoustic act which covers classic rock, originals, classic country, blues, folk and even grunge. Our debut album, self titled MorningStar, has been well received and is on several internet radio stations as well as a handful of FM stations (Texas Select Radio, KFAN/Texas Rebel Radio, KGTN 106.7FM, KWVH 94.1FM, to name a few). We have performed on Songwriters Across Texas Television Show and are on rotation on their radio show. We have performed on FOX 7 Good Day Austin twice. During SXSW, for the last 3 years, we have been invited to perform unoffical showcases at Maggie Mae's on 6th Street. We recently played the 19th Annual Red Poppy Festival which was absolutely incredible. We look forward to having an even busier year in 2018, making more fans and continuing to pursue our life's passion. If you've ever been to one of our shows, you know it's not just a gig, it's an emotional journey. If you haven't, maybe it's time to come check us out.

Here's a 2017 Album review form UK's Power Play Magazine:

"Their Facebook page describes them as 'Original Southern Rock, 70's Classic Rock and Country'. All sounds promising, so let's give it a spin. This Austin Texas band do have a 70's rock 'n' roll sound, but that's not all they have; they lay it on in a country way too, not the greasy noir that's so popular at the moment, but undiluted country rock. 'One of a Kind' leads us off with Tasmin Morningstar's bluesy croon and a lazy groove. 'Along for the Ride' fills your dance card and 'Right Place, Right Time smokes with desire to lead you to a dark, warm corner. Tasmin clearly has an evocative voice and her Loretta Lynn style on 'Sorrow Comes Too Familiar' is a lovely interpretation. The burning guitars in 'The Hammer Falls' aren't bad either". ...an impressive variety of songs from that dazed and confused decade of the 70's...AND OUR OWN ORIGINAL GROOVIN', SOULFUL BLUES ROCK!

"Then MorningStar got on stage. All we can say is.... WOW! Tasmin and Tim McCoy we're joined by their drummer Reed Hoffman. Tasmin has a beautiful clear voice, fits Tim's lyrics perfectly. Reed's harmonizing was pretty cool too."

“Many know (MorningStar) for honoring the traditions of the 1970's classic rock that so many of us love & know so well and playing so many great songs around town (Austin, TX)...and you're still doing that, but have pivoted a bit with your own new material (a 13 song original album available on iTunes, Google Play and more with direct link via www.morningstar70.com)." [Click below on the blue "FOX 7 Music in the Morning" for full interview & performance].”

"I just listened to your CD and that’s a rockin’ quartet you guys have! Tim writes fantastic material and Tasmin you sound GREAT on the tracks!! Good job varying up the vibes on each cut. “Made to Break” has a country thing going on which was a fun contrast, and I love the vamp on “Right Place, Right Time”…very cool. It’s an awesome project and I was so honored to get a 'thank you' on the sleeve!"

“My faves are “Along for the Ride”,”Learning to Breathe”, “Oceans Too Blue”, “Made to Break”, “Last 5 Miles” and “Sorrow Comes Too Familiar”. My top two? “Made to Break” and “Sorrow Comes Too Familiar” could be a classic ballad. Duly noted that these songs got the country vibe. Love it:) I hope to see you guys play live in its entirety I'm listening to “Sorrow Comes Too Familiar” again now. It taps into some classic stuff. This vein is the one you tap -James Jones Freelance film and television editor in NYC, Musician and Founder of Greenpoint at Night”

"Hey guys, I play with a little ol' Victoria band called Hit N Run, and a couple of us stopped by and listened to you last Sunday at the Wellhead... what a great group and an amazing choice of songs! Well done and I'll be keeping an eye out for you guys next time you're in town!"
